2012 FLHC Speaker Series
Fort Lauderdale History Center hosts reknowned authors, scholars, local historians, re-enactors and public speakers at its monthly Speaker Series Monday evenings at 6:00pm. Check back often for calendar updates.

Lt. Colonel Leo Gray, Tuskegee Fighter Pilot, will be speaking on "Life as a Red Tail Fighter Pilot during WWII".

Michele Williams , Ph.D., RPA is the Director for the Southeastern Region of Florida Public Archaeology Network at Florida Atlantic University and will be speaking on "Native American Medicinal Plants".


February 13, 2012, 6:00pm
Dr. Kitty Oliver, a veteran South Florida journalist, author, oral historian, and university professor will be speaking on
"Crossing Cultures/Changing Lives: An Intergenerational Dialogue on Differences".

Historical Walking Tours
The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society is pleased to offer walking tours of the original neighborhood of the city built along the New River prior to the 20th century. Hear stories about Old Fort Lauderdale and the early Pioneers, learn about Henry Flagler and Florida East Coast Railroad and visit some of the oldest buildings in the city.

Tours begin at 2:30pm in the lobby area of the New River Inn and admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. October - May only.

Friendship Luncheon
The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society honors Monsignor Vincent T. Kelly from St. Thomas Aquinas High School at its Annual Friendship Luncheon at the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club.

Founders Dinner
The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society honors "Alligator" Ron Bergeron at its Annual Founder's Dinner on the Bergeron Ranch.
